Description: Dock houses line the floating walkway next to the boat ramp in the small town of Goble where from 1884 to 1908 the Tacoma , then the second largest ferry in the world, transported trains across the Columbia. Pilings—remnants of logging operations—jut from the water near shore. Changeable weather and strong winds can result in dangerous conditions heading downriver. Three-mile-long Crims Island is such a site, with Gull Island and four small unnamed islands around it, and another two nearby in Bradbury Slough, making it an island "complex" with byways for exploration.
